Stage-Language Reader Kit
Stage-Language Reader Kit
Status: draft for human review (P9-05). Wording is a proposal. Use it with stage-language-cognitive-interview.md. Recruiting, consent and running sessions are [HUMAN-REQUIRED].
Replace [SITE NAME], [TOPIC], [YOUR NAME] and [CONTACT] before use. Do not name any stage or framework to readers.
1. Recruiting message (one page, send through the audience's own channel)
Help us make a learning page clearer: 45 minutes, no preparation
I'm helping build [SITE NAME], a free, step-by-step online path about [TOPIC]. Before we publish it, I'd like to hear how it reads to people who actually live in this world: [one plain line about the audience, for example "people who rely on their faith community and trusted guidance when they make decisions"].
What it involves: we meet for about 45 minutes, in person or by video. You read part of the page aloud and tell me in your own words what it says and what you'd change. You are testing the text, not being tested. There are no right answers and you can stop or skip anything at any time.
You don't need any background. Please don't prepare. If you've never heard of this project, that's ideal.
If you're interested, or know someone who might be, reply to [CONTACT] and I'll send a short information sheet before we agree to anything.
[YOUR NAME]
Sending notes:
- Send it through the audience's own channel (a congregation newsletter, a unit or team list, a staff room), not the main site.
- Do not offer a payment or reward that depends on the reader liking the page.
- Do not recruit people who wrote or reviewed the drafts.
2. Information and consent sheet (give before the session; keep the signed copy apart from the notes)
What this is. [SITE NAME] is a free online learning path. We are checking whether one page of it is clear, respectful and makes sense to people like you.
What you'll do. Read the page aloud, one section at a time, say anything that catches or confuses you, and explain each section back in your own words. About 30 to 45 minutes.
What we record. Written notes, with a code (for example R1) instead of your name. Audio only if you agree below. A few words about your role or context, and whether you've met this project before.
What we don't do. We don't test or grade you. We don't ask about your beliefs, health or personal history. The page may touch on topics such as belief, loss or authority. You can skip any section, take a break, or stop at any time, with no explanation needed.
If something feels difficult. We'll stop and offer a break. The page lists support contacts in its Safety Notes, and I'll share them with you. If you seem distressed, I will also tell the project's safety owner the same day, without your name unless you ask me to.
Where it goes. Notes are stored without your name, separately from this form. Audio, if recorded, is deleted once the notes are written up. Results are reported only as counts and anonymous quotes. You can ask for your notes to be deleted up to [DATE].
This is not research on how well you learn. It checks the text with a few people. It will not show that the page improves learning.
