Implementation Details

1. Axe-Core Integration ✅

Files Created/Modified:

  • design-system/src/a11y.test.tsx - Comprehensive accessibility test suite
  • design-system/package.json - Updated with test scripts and Lighthouse CI
  • design-system/src/setupTests.ts - Already configured with jest-axe

Features:

  • Tests for all major components (Button, Alert, Card, Checkbox, etc.)
  • WCAG 2.1 AA compliance validation
  • Color contrast testing (4.5:1 ratio)
  • Keyboard navigation verification
  • Screen reader compatibility checks
  • ARIA attribute validation

Usage:

cd design-system
npm run test:a11y # Run locally
npm run test:a11y:ci # CI mode with coverage
npm run accessibility:full # Complete test suite

2. Lighthouse CI Configuration ✅

Files Created:

  • design-system/lighthouserc.json - Complete Lighthouse CI configuration

Configuration:

  • Minimum accessibility score: 90/100 (WCAG 2.1 AA)
  • 3 runs for consistency
  • Desktop preset
  • Error on critical violations
  • Automatic report generation

Quality Gates:

  • Color contrast: ERROR
  • ARIA attributes: ERROR
  • Form labels: ERROR
  • Button names: ERROR
  • Image alt text: ERROR
  • Keyboard navigation: ERROR
  • 40+ additional rules

3. CI/CD Pipeline Integration ✅

GitHub Actions Workflow:

  • File: .github/workflows/accessibility-testing.yml
  • Triggers: PR, push to main, daily at 9 AM UTC, manual
  • Jobs:
  • axe-core-tests - Run axe-core component tests
  • lighthouse-ci - Run Lighthouse accessibility audits
  • create-accessibility-issues - Auto-create issues for violations
  • accessibility-report - Generate summary report

Jenkins Shared Library:

  • File: jenkins-shared-library/vars/accessibilityTest.groovy
  • Integrates with Golden Path pipeline
  • Configurable WCAG level (A, AA, AAA)
  • Fail build on violations
  • Publish HTML reports

Usage in Jenkinsfile:

stage('Accessibility Tests') {
    steps {
        accessibilityTest {
            runAxeCore = true
            runLighthouse = true
            wcagLevel = 'AA'
            failOnViolations = true
            lighthouseScoreThreshold = 90
        }
    }
}

4. Accessibility Dashboard ✅

File: platform/apps/grafana/dashboards/accessibility-dashboard.json

Dashboard Panels:

  1. Overall Accessibility Score (stat)
  2. Test Pass Rate (stat, 7-day trend)
  3. Critical Violations (stat with thresholds)
  4. WCAG 2.1 AA Compliance Status (pass/fail)
  5. Accessibility Score Trend (time series)
  6. Violations by Severity (pie chart)
  7. Test Execution History (table)
  8. Component-Level Violations (bar gauge)
  9. WCAG Rule Violations (bar gauge)

Metrics Tracked:

  • lighthouse_accessibility_score - Lighthouse score (0-100)
  • accessibility_tests_passed / accessibility_tests_total - Pass rate
  • axe_critical_violations - Critical violation count
  • wcag_aa_compliance_status - Compliance status (0/1)
  • axe_component_violations - Violations per component
  • axe_rule_violations - Violations per WCAG rule

5. Auto-Issue Creation ✅

Implementation:

  • Job: create-accessibility-issues in GitHub Actions workflow
  • Triggers: Only on main branch or scheduled runs
  • Features:
  • Parses test results from axe-core and Lighthouse
  • Creates GitHub issues with detailed information
  • Labels: accessibility, automated, bug, P1
  • Smart duplicate prevention (7-day window)
  • Links to workflow runs and artifacts
  • Includes remediation guidance

Issue Template:

  • Detection date and workflow run link
  • Summary of violations (axe-core, Lighthouse)
  • Action required steps
  • Links to WCAG guidelines
  • Resources for fixing violations
